Get the most out of your Veygo new driver policy

New to driving? See how the Veygo app tracks your habits, affects your score, and what to do to keep your premium low.

So, you’ve just passed your test and got your first wheels. It’s exciting to get on the road independently 🎉

Now it’s time to make sure you’ve got everything set up to keep you (and your policy) on track. Our New Driver app is designed to help you build safe driving habits and bring your price down from day one, so here’s everything you need to know.

Download the Veygo App

If you bought your policy on our website, make sure you download the Veygo app straight away.

We use the app to monitor your driving, so without it, your policy could be cancelled. Not ideal! So get it downloaded, set up, and ready to go before your first journey.

What Does the App Track?

Our app looks at a bunch of different factors to help build your driving score, including:

  • Braking
  • Speeding
  • Phone screen interaction
  • Phone motion

This helps us understand how safely you’re driving day-to-day.

Top tip: Use a phone dock!

Keeping your phone loose on the seat or tucked away in a bag can seriously affect your score. Because the app tracks phone motion, sliding or rolling around can look like harsh braking or excessive acceleration, even when you’re being careful.

Pop your phone securely into a dashboard or windscreen dock to make sure your driving score reflects your actual driving.

How Does My Driving Score Work?

Your score is built up over a 90-day period, so it’s all about consistency.

  • Had a bad week? Don’t stress, just focus on improving the next one.
  • Your score updates after every journey, so you can see how you’re getting on in near real-time.
  • The app also gives you a snapshot of your recent driving over the last 14 days, and will let you know if you’re smashing it with excellent driving.

The more consistent you are, the safer your score and your policy will be.

What If I’m Not Driving?

Going along as a passenger? Don’t forget to flag this on the app.

If you don’t, their driving habits — whether it’s your mate, a parent, or a taxi driver — it could affect your score. You can mark yourself as a passenger either before or after your journey.

Once you update it, your score will adjust. This normally takes a few minutes, but sometimes it may process overnight so don’t panic if it doesn’t update instantly.

Top tip: Update your trips within 7 days

Make sure you update any trips within 7 days to keep your driving score as accurate as possible. This helps us make sure we’re only recording your driving.

We’d hate for your score to drop because of another driver’s bad habits, so keeping your trips up to date is the best way to stay in control of your score.

What if I go on holiday?

Go and have the best time, you deserve it! 🌴✈️

While you’re away, our tech can’t automatically tell when you’re abroad, so you’ll still need to mark yourself as a passenger whenever you’re in a car.

Whether it’s an Uber from the airport, a taxi to the beach or a sightseeing bus tour, just enjoy the ride. Then, when you’re back home, simply update the app to show you weren’t the one driving.

It’s quick, it’s easy, and it keeps your driving score accurate, so you can relax and enjoy your holiday without worrying about your policy.

Keep an Eye on Your Driving Score

Your driving score matters. If it drops too low, your policy could be cancelled. Your score is always available to check in your Veygo app.

So, keep checking in:

  • Notice any dips? Take a look at your journey feedback and see what you can improve.
  • Consistently strong score? Keep it up, good habits now mean safer driving long-term and a lower premium.

We’re rooting for you, and this app is here to help you become a safer, more confident driver.

Top tip: Keep your email address up-to-date

Make sure the email address on your account is always correct, it’s how we’ll contact you if your driving score starts to drop or if we have any updates about your policy.

Keeping your details updated means you’ll never miss an important message.
