Whether you’re still learning, you’ve just passed, or you need cover for a car you do not drive all the time, it can help you get insured without paying for more than you need.
Young driver insurance is car insurance designed for people who are newer to driving and often aged between 17 and 25.
It gives young drivers a way to get cover that feels more flexible and more relevant to their situation. That could mean learning in someone else’s car, driving your own car after passing, or getting short-term cover when you need it.
Because younger drivers are usually seen as higher risk, insurance can sometimes feel expensive or complicated. Young driver insurance helps make things clearer, faster and easier to manage.
Young driver insurance works by giving you cover based on the type of driving you need to do.
For example, if you’re learning to drive, you may want insurance that lets you practise in a parent or friend’s car without affecting their no claims bonus if you need to make a claim. If you’ve already passed, you might want cover for your own car or flexible insurance for a car you only use now and then.
You choose the type of cover that suits your situation, get a quote online, and if you’re happy, you can get insured in minutes.

You can get a quote with Veygo, here.
You’ll be able to enter in all your details quick and easy and be able to get a quote in no time! Unfortunately our agents cannot provide quotes over the phone or by email.
Unfortunately, another driver or car can’t be added to your existing insurance policy, but you can buy a separate insurance policy for the other driver or car you wish to insure. When purchasing for another driver, they’ll need to continue as a new customer and create their own account with an alternative email address. Easy!
Not sure about the price or why it’s changing? The price you see going through the quote is only a guide.
Once you have entered all the information, you will be shown the final price on the “Your Final Quote” page and this will be an accurate price, based on all your details. Our agents will not be able to change or amend this price.
Atually, yes – you can. You can tax your vehicle with a temporary policy at the DVLA website. Or, if you want to go old-school, you can take your temporary insurance docs to the post office.
Veygo learner driver insurance does provide cover for your practical driving test. You may be asked to take a copy of your certificate of insurance with you, which is available to download as a PDF document within your Veygo account. To view this, please log in, go to ‘My account’ and select ‘Purchases’.
Should you wish to, you can also use your own vehicle to take your driving test. Please bear in mind that the car needs to meet certain legal requirements, which can be found at GOV.UK.
Important: If you pass your test, this insurance will no longer be valid, as it only covers provisional licence holders. This means you won’t be able to drive home from the test centre. But you can get a quote for our temporary cover if you continue sharing the car. Good luck!
Your price will change after you pass, but not right away. With Learner + New Driver, your first month after passing remains the same as your learner price. After that, your price will adjust based on your new driver quote, which we will share with you once you pass.
Your new driver price will be directly linked to your driving score in the Veygo by Admiral app, which means it will change based on your driving behaviour. If your driving score is good because you’ve been driving safely and responsibly, your subscription price may decrease. However, if there are changes in your driving behaviour that means your driving score is lower, then your subscription price may increase.
We know how important every pound is at the moment. Adjustments to your subscription price will come into effect every three months and will always be communicated to you in advance.
