Isn’t this dual insurance?

It’s not. Dual insurance is when the same person has two active insurance policies on the same vehicle.

As long as you’re not named on the car owner’s insurance, or any other insurance policy covering the car you want to drive (or perhaps learn in), this won’t affect your ability to take out cover, and it won’t be dual insurance.
