5 Reasons Why You Should Hit the Road This Mayday

“Spring is nature’s way of saying let’s party!” 🎉🌸🚙

by Louise Thomas

It’s officially bank holiday weekend🎉🎉🎉. The great Robin Williams once said, “Spring is nature’s way of saying let’s party!” So don’t get stuck at home this weekend. Hit the road and make the most of your bank holiday.

1. You have THREE WHOLE DAYS off

Do you really need another reason? Long weekends are made for travelling. Been meaning to catch up with that mate on the other side of the country? Use the extra day to do it this weekend. Fancy a mini break/staycation? You have three whole days to explore a new city or area. Make the most of the extra 24 hours of freedom!

2. There’s going to be a heatwave🔥

After the shocking efforts from Mother Nature over Easter bank holiday weekend, this Mayday she is supposed to bring out the big guns. By guns we mean sunshine. There are even rumours that these typically rainy isles will be hotter than Ibiza! What better excuse than a heatwave, to hit the road, roll down the windows, blast out some tunes and head to the beach.

3. So much great food

There’s almost certainly a food festival near you this bank holiday weekend. Check out the outstanding food and drink of the South West at Exeter Food and Drink Festival, or taste Yorkshire’s best offerings at Malton. Wherever you are, fill your boots (and your car boot!) with plenty of tasty goodies.

4. Find a Maypole

Join in traditional British Mayday celebrations by dancing around a Maypole! Mayday’s origins are in the ancient celebrations of spring, so why not grab your ribbon and give it a whirl? There are Maypoles in village squares, town centres and museums all over the country, so you’re never more than a short drive away.

5. It’s better than revision

Exam season is about to begin, and you should really be indoors revising. But a bank holiday is a great excuse to bunk off. You have the rest of the week to figure out your indecipherable notes from the year. The sun is going to be shining, and most of the rest of the country will be enjoying a well-earned break. So why shouldn’t you? Hitting the open road is a great way to unwind (as long as you avoid traffic). If you insist, you can take your books with you and revise in a far more scenic spot.

6. You can share the driving with Veygo

Driving long distances can get super tiring, especially when you’re the only driver. Luckily, we have the perfect solution. With our Temporary Car Insurance, your mates can get insured on your car from one hour to 30 days. It’s fully comprehensive and doesn’t affect your own insurance policy. Cover is available instantly and there’s even an app!

You could even use it to borrow someone else’s car! You drive a Fiat 500 but want to pack in five people? No problem. Use Car Sharing Insurance and borrow your parent’s sensible family sized car! Now there’s nothing holding you back from an epic road trip.
